What to Expect When You Visit Stacey Chapman Acupuncture
If you’ve never had acupuncture before, you’re in the right place. Many of my patients come for their first session unsure what to expect and often leave feeling calm, surprised by how much they loved it, and already looking forward to coming back.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a system of health care that’s been used for thousands of years to restore balance and support the body’s natural ability to heal.
Fine, single-use needles are placed at specific points to influence the flow of Qi (energy) through pathways called meridians.
From a modern perspective, acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, improve circulation, and support hormone and immune balance. Many people find it deeply relaxing, a chance to pause, breathe, and let their body reset.
Your First Appointment
Your first visit lasts around 90 minutes. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted and shown to the treatment room. Please leave your shoes at the door, it helps keep the space calm and clean.
If you have any mobility issues, do get in touch before booking, as the treatment room is on the first floor.
We begin with a thorough consultation, this includes your medical history, any symptoms you are currently experiencing and a top to toe review so that I can understand your full health picture. You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and share what’s brought you here.
Once we’re ready to begin, you’ll undress only as much as needed for treatment, I have blankets for cover and comfort.
I may take your pulse and look at your tongue as part of diagnosis. Most first appointments include a combination of acupuncture and gentle massage, unless there’s a reason to avoid massage that day.
Most people feel relaxed, grounded, and often notice small but positive shifts straight away.
My Approach
Every treatment is calm, nurturing, and personalised. Whether you’re coming for stress, fertility, hormonal balance, or general wellbeing, each session supports your body’s natural rhythm and helps restore a sense of balance.
